More Interaction with A2 Flyers Listening Part 1
Following on from my previous post, I’m going to share four more activities for A2 Flyers Listening Part 1. The ideas can also be used for this part of Pre-A1 Starters Listening and A1 Movers Listening too of course.
Let’s look at the A2 Flyers picture again. It comes from Sample Papers Volume 1, available here: https://www.cambridgeenglish.org/teaching-english/
Extend the dialogue
Choose one of the dialogues.
e.g. (about Sally)
Woman: Who’s that girl on the bike?
Girl: The one with the short blonde hair?
Woman: No, not her. The one who’s laughing.
Girl: Oh, that’s Sally. She’s my best friend.
Woman: That’s nice.
Girl: Yes, we often do our maths homework together.
Learners extend the dialogue – by adding one more turn for each speaker. e.g.
Woman: She looks nice and friendly.
Girl: And she is nice and friendly too. And very kind!
Edit one of the dialogues
Woman: Who’s that girl on the bike?
Girl: The one with the short blonde hair in the grey trousers?
Woman: No, not her. The one who’s wearing a grey helmet.
Girl: Oh, that’s Sally. She’s in my hockey team.
Woman: That’s nice.
Girl: Yes, we often practise together.
Write the dialogue for the name not used!
Learners decide which person in the picture is Jane (either the woman feeding the ducks or the other girl on the bike) and write the dialogue about Jane.
Imagine the picture for the speakers
Ask learners question about the people they heard speaking about the picture.
Learners imagine the details about them (and could also draw a picture of them).
Who’s speaking? (a grandmother and granddaughter)
Where are they? (inside/outside, etc)
What are they doing? (sitting?/standing?)
I hope that these, together with the ideas I shared in the previous post, will be useful and that your learners will have fun with Listening Part 1!
