Skills blog in the making
A friend asked me recently for some recommendations for listening material in English. I was able to recommend him some things to start with (he’s currently around B2 level).
Yesterday, I was in San Sebastian giving two seminars for Cambridge English Language Assessment – on C1 Writing and Cambridge English:Advanced Listening. While preparing the content of the Listening seminar, and remembering my friend’s request for listening material, I came up with the idea of creating a blog with listening materials, tagged for length, level, topic and young learner/teenager/adult.
During the first seminar yesterday on writing, teachers were talking about websites and resources and asking where they could find more examples of activities focusing on writing. So my listening blog idea then grew into a skills blog!
What I propose then, is to collect and collate useful resources for writing and for listening from the web and to provide links to them so that students and teachers can access them and not have to spend hours trawling through masses of materials to find something suitable.
I need help on this! There are not enough seconds in a day to be able to do this on my own!
So teachers out there, if you have any recommendations, please, please share them with me. Ideally, send me the link, a short description of what it links to and what it is, the level you’ve used it at.
I hope this will grow and be a useful resource for us all.
